Uwe Herbst (born 1952 in Cologne) has become a fixture on the European art scene in recent years. He has enjoyed great success in France and Germany - the artist has felt equally at home in both countries since his youth.
With his new works, Uwe Herbst invites us on a journey across Europe. With sensitivity and great imagination, he uses his brush to create scenes in which the atmosphere of the places is condensed to the highest degree.
On the other hand, Herbst sees himself as a contemporary painter who interprets his subjects from the perspective of the 21st century. In each individual work one finds the synthesis between tradition and the present. With each painting he begins, he enters new territory in a certain sense. Every time one visits Herbst's studio, one is amazed at the increase in expressiveness he is able to achieve.
